SumZero recently asked members of its buyside community who they were planning to support in the 2016 US Presidential Election. The results suggest that while Hillary Clinton remains an early favorite for members of the fund industry, a meaningful (and game-changing) minority remain uncommitted to any candidate.

SumZero is the world's largest community of investment professionals working at hedge funds, mutual funds, and private equity funds. With over 3,500 funds active on the platform, SumZero is the fast-growing voice of the fund industry.

Given the purity of the population (all members work at funds), we were interested to hear how the industry is leaning at this early stage of the election. We conducted this poll between 10/15/15 and 10/22/15. The results are in.

Here's how the SumZero community is leaning at the moment:

Hillary Clinton: 20.48%
Jeb Bush: 10.95%
Marco Rubio: 8.57%
Donald Trump: 11.90%
Joe Biden: 2.38%
Bernie Sanders: 4.29%
Carly Fiorina: 3.32%
Undecided: 28.10%
Other (Unlisted Individual): 10.00%

We will run this same question in future months (with updated rosters). Stay tuned for more poll results to come on topical questions of broad relevance, including energy, interest rates, China, and more.
